MARK BLOOMSTON, M.D.

Medical Director, South Florida Surgical Oncology

Dr. Bloomston is a Medical Director, GI Cancer Service, at South Florida Surgical Oncology. He returned to his home town of Fort Myers, FL after a distinguished academic career as Associate Professor, Surgical Oncology Fellowship director, and director of the GI Cancer Service Line at Ohio State University. His interests are in complex GI cancers and advanced surgical procedures, such as complex pancreas surgery, major liver surgery, biliary reconstruction, hepatic artery infusion pumps and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). He is considered one of the nation’s top doctors by US News and World Report.

Dr. Bloomston graduated from Florida State University and earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida. He has authored nearly 150 scientific articles and has served on the National Cancer Institute’s Neuroendocrine task force and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Hepatobiliary guidelines committee.
