Our Science:

Candel Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering the development of viral based immunotherapies for the treatment of solid tumors. Candel’s products are designed to significantly help patients fight their cancer while maintaining quality of life.  We have a robust pipeline with clinical assets in phase 1, 2 and 3 for the treatment of prostate, brain, lung, and pancreatic cancers. This role will report directly to the Controller, and you will be provided with a great opportunity to showcase your meticulous organizational skills, strong AP experience and project management abilities. A day in the life of this role:

  • Review and approve payment requests from vendors on a daily basis.
  • Organize, code, enter and post all invoices into the accounting system within tight deadlines for weekly and period close.
  • Review the financial terms of contracts.
  • Assist in solving employees’ problems on AP and utilize payment flow.
  • Reconcile vendor statements with accounting system records as requested.
  • Deliver AP education to internal and external customers.
  • Work closely and effectively with other departments to identify solutions and support business.
  • Assist with audit requests
  • Assist with vendor creation and setup
  • Assist with employee expense reimbursement process
  • Assist with processing, organizing, and tracking vendor POs and Contracts
  • Assist with period end close reconciliations for AP and other related G/L accounts
  • Assist with upcoming implementation and setup of AP and PO approval in Netsuite

 What we’ll need from you:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance-related field.
  • 2-5 years of AP or reimbursement experience preferably at a small company or start-up organization.
    • Previous biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience NOT required
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Software and relevant systems technology; experience using Concur and NetSuite is a plus
  • Principled, flexible, and resourceful with a positive customer service mentality.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving and financial skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize, in a busy and dynamic environment with a willingness to accept challenges.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of energy and initiative.
  • Must have an enterprising spirit and want to grow and learn.
